Dénes Várjon: Three Superb Trios
Widely considered as one of the finest chamber musicians of our times, Dénes Várjon is performing between February and April in three trios of exceptional quality: with Caroline and Jörg Widmannn, with Tabea Zimmermann and Jörg Widmann, finally with Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis.

The trio of Várjon and the two Widmanns performed on February 15th in Fribourg, on February 16th in Donaueschingen, playing works by Stravinsky, Schumann, Jörg Widmann and Bartók. The trio of Várjon, Tabea Zimmermann and Jörg Widmann gave concerts in Kempen, Padova, Budapest and Erlangen in the period 18-23 February. The programme featured compositions by Mozart, Schumann and Kurtág. Critiques in Budapest spoke of "concert of the season" and "golden hours of chamber music". The trio of Várjon, Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis can be heard first in London's Wigmore Hall on April 5th, followed by appearances in Budapest's Liszt Academy on the 7th and in Salzburg's Mozarteum on the 8th, in a programme of works by Schumann, Chopin and Mendelssohn.
